Company Overview
Muon Solutions Ltd is a Finnish-based privately owned cross-disciplinary high-tech engineering, manufacturing and consulting company founded in 2016. The company’s backgrounds are in the particle physics, engineering, geology, geochemistry, geophysics, ore exploration and planetary geology, as well as in mining technology and mining safety. Another common background connecting many of the team key persons is the experience they have for working in the Pyhäsalmi mine in Central Finland. Pyhäsalmi, opened in 1962 and still operating, is one of the oldest and deepest underground mines in Europe.
Owing to the truly multidisciplinary nature of the company, Muon Solutions is able to offer unusually wide range of products and services.
Products & Services
Products: muon detection technologies
Muon monitoring is based on the detection of cosmic-ray muon radiation to provide information about the density variations of rock formations, material heaps or cavities in large scale solid state structures. Also natural and man-made cavities in bedrock can be detected, such as karst caves and forgotten mine tunnels. By detecting the absorption of muons as a function of density, it is possible to make individual measurements or even tomographic imaging up to 1 km thick layers of rock or any material.
Geology and geochemistry
Our geological and geochemical services span from desktop research to field work. For exploration sector, for example, we provide technical assistance from greenfields to brownfields projects. We can join your project as early as concept building and targeting stages, or at any time. We conduct mapping and geochemical or indicator mineral sampling or just help to outline the sampling protocols and plans. In brief, whatever you needs are, our exploration service packages can be tailored flexibly.
Geophysics
Muon Solutions offers many kinds of geophysical interpretation and data handling services, e.g. geophysical forward modelling, integrated inversion and model generation, 3D free air Maxwell modelling of EM data, Cole-Cole IP modelling of AEM data, 3D VOXEL model generation and remote sensing and satellite borne model derivation. Depending on your needs, our geophysical services can be integrated into other services or applied independently.
Green energy: geothermal exploration
We are able to assist early stage geothermal exploration projects by offering project reviews, risk evaluations and optimisations, or performing heat-flow, reservoir and fracture mapping. We also build 3D models, characterise reservoirs, conduct energy potential investigations and launch studies for reducing detrimental elements in process waters. We can contribute to geothermal energy projects from shallow (low enthalpy) to ultra-deep (high enthalpy) depths.
Green energy: offshore wind farm geophysics
We are well positioned to provide unusual insights, technical know-how and geophysical modelling capabilities also to early-stage offshore wind farm building projects. We have experience from wind farms in offshore Denmark.

Muon Solutions Ltd is not only a product developing company, but also a customer-focused multi-disciplined contracting and consulting company. In mining environments our services range from safety issues to radon surveys in both open-cast and underground mines.
