Detecting the unseen

Exploration

‘Andy loved geology. I imagine it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, a million years of mountain building there, plates of bedrock grinding against each other over a span of millenia…geology is the study of pressure and time. That’s all it takes really, pressure, and time.’

— Movie Writer
Narration by Red (Morgan Freeman) in movie The Shawshank Redemption (1994).

Our exploration services span from desktop research to field work. By outsourcing some of your exploration tasks to us, or all of it, you can concentrate on the daily tasks of you core business and let the grinding pressure consume us, not you. We take the pressure, you save time. We are able to provide informative and technical assistance in all stages of exploration from grassroots to brownfields. Early stage exploration services include deposit-type based concept building and targeting to complete exploration service packages. If you are in a need of specialist consultant advice or help for project generation and management, we can deliver support, field personnel and required equipment. If you like, we can also plan your exploration program from the scratch or manage and execute your plan according to your contracting needs. For creating additional value for our customers, we pay particular attention to the quality of reporting.

We are committed to safe work practices, environmentally sensitive field research and responsibility in community relationships. We are experts in northern conditions, but we have also participated to projects outside the Nordic countries.

Depending on software needs of the project, we have capabilities to use QGIS, ArcGIS, Mapinfo, Maxwell, Oasis Montaj, R Statistics, QuickMag, LeapFrog, SurPac, PowerLog, ISIS, Kingdom Suite, GMT and Vis5D.

In exploration, our in-house experience includes exploration of natural resources of the following deposit types:

  • Orogenic lode Au
  • Porphyry Cu-Au
  • Palaeoporphyry Cu-Au (Precambrian)
  • Climax-type porphyry Mo
  • Palaeoepithermal deposits (metamorphosed epithermal/hydrothermal deposits)
  • IOCG (iron-oxide copper gold)
  • Skarn
  • SSC (sedimentary-rock hosted stratiform copper)
  • VMS (volcanogenic massive sulphide)
  • Magmatic Ni-Cu-PGE
  • Layered intrusion related Cr and PGE
  • Rare-element pegmatite (e.g. lithium pegmatites)
  • SEDEX Pb-Zn-Cu
  • MVT/Irish type Pb-Zn
  • Diamonds (kimberlite/lamprophyre)
  • Alluvial/placer deposits (e.g. Au, Ni-Ta, Sn and diamond)
  • Palaeoplacer deposits (e.g. metamorphosed conglomerate-hosted Au)

Our field studies continuously interact with our knowledge-based approach as we are constantly reviewing results gained from the field with or against:

  • Mineral deposit models
  • Tectonic and orogenic models
  • Lithospheric structure, translithospheric to higher-order faults and large-scale structural geology
  • Bedrock and surficial geology
  • Structural data
  • Isotopic and mineralogical data
  • Sedimentary basin lithostratigraphies, sedimentation processes and basin histories
  • Geochronological and thermochronological data
  • Palaeomagnetic, geomorphological and palaeoenvironmental  data
  • Earlier geophysical, geochemical and mineralogical studies
